My relationship with Lucy was five months and two weeks, everything has been going on smoothly and fine. It seems like it was the best relationship i have ever had. Lucy is such a caring girl, she knows what i want and what i did not want at a particular point in time. She always admitted my no to be no and my yes to be yes, she’s just too straight forward, not until one unfaithful day. I’ve been working with our commander quite sometimes, i was lucky to be among his escort. That simply means, one he’s at work, am at work and once he is off work, am off work. Even if he takes a week off, then i will also be off at work for a week. It was on Saturday, he has scheduled that day to attend a wedding ceremony at Ibadan state, i had finished preparing at home then i joined my colleges at our normal meeting point and we all went to the arm store to sign our rifles. We got to our commander’s house at about 7am and we were surprised when his wife informed us that he had traveled in his private vehicle to Abuja very early that morning. I guess it was an emergency if not he would have informed us a day or two days earlier. Five of us working in that department retired back home with happiness, that means no work for today until further notice.
When i got home, i pulled off my uniform and sat down in my parlour watching film, just as the film was getting more and more interesting, the PHCN took the light.
“What the f--k”
“Why can’t this people just allowed me to finished this film” i lamented.
Form that moment, the house was so bored, i can’t just stayed inside alone. I started thinking of where i should go and spend my weekend, certainly i have no where to go. I was still thinking of where to go when Lucy just came to my mind.
“I think i should visit Lucy today”
“Yes! Let me surprised her”
“I know she will be very happy”
“All this while she had wanted me to come”
“Today is the day”
After i thought about all this things, i changed my cloth, pick up my bike keys and left for Lucy’s house. I stopped by sweet sensation and get her ice cream, meat pie, juice and a place of fried rice with chicken. She’s all I’ve got at that moment of my life, i so much loved her. I left the eatery for her house, when i got to her house, i met her neighbour outside and i asked her if Lucy was around and she said no. I felt very disappointed
“Where could she have gone to”
“Why would Lucy went out without informing me”
“But she didn’t use to do like that before na”
“By the way, she doesn’t go to work on weekends”
“I remembered she hasn’t even called me that morning”
I was very very disappointed as that was the very first day i would be paying her a visit, she had earlier described her house for me and fortunately for me, it was a place i knew very well and that was why i didn’t wanted to call her about my coming. I turned back and i was about taking my leave, i discovered that her neighbour was standing with me all this while.
“Why was she standing with me after she told me that Lucy was not at around”
“But she’s about taking her leave immediately i turned back”
“Does it mean she did not want me to see her or what”
“But i trust Lucy na, she wouldn’t left her house for anywhere without informing me, not even to her working place”
I sat on my bike and i was about leaving, i turned my head around in order to see if her neighbour was still looking at me but she had gone inside. I came down from my bike and parked. I decided to confirmed she wasn’t at home myself. I pick up the food i bought for her and went inside. I just wanted to squeeze the handle of her door and confirmed she wasn’t at home so that i will be sure, but the reversed was the case when i almost fell down as a result of the force i applied on the door when it flung opened.
Behold, i saw my pure wife material Lucy necked underneath a guy shouting
“Give it to me baby”
“I want you badly”
They were so carried away to the extent they did not know that i had entered until the food i was holding fell off my hand and i shouted
“WHAT!”
“LUCY!!”
“OH MY GOD!!!”
They both turned around and looked me in great surprised, Lucy covered her face immediately with the blanket, i recognized the guy very very well, I’ve seen his pictures on Lucy’s phone so many times, she said he’s her ex boyfriend. The anger in me was enough to boil water to make semovita at that moment, my legs was shaking on the ground, everything seems to be crumbling right in front of me. Series of thought started running through my mind
“Which one should i even kill first”
“I think i will kill the guy first and kill Lucy later”
“What if Military Police arrest me after this act, it will be too bad for me ooo”
“Maybe i should just cut off this guy’s d**k”
“No, Lucy is a bastardized idiot”
“This guy took his chances”
“What am i even saying! He took his chances on my girlfriend”
I tried my possible best in order to control my anger, the guy was looking at me, they were both naked, he couldn’t move an inch, i guess it was because of the camouflage face cap i was putting on maybe he would have tried his luck. I just turned around and left the place, i was about exiting the main door and i saw her neighbour that said she wasn’t around, i stood still and we were both looking at eachother. “Partner in crime” i murmured in dismay before i took my leave. I was just driving like a drunkard on the road because i don’t even know what i was doing. I just wanted to go home and get myself together. When i got home, i met my neighbour outside with her kids, i did not even bothered to greet her. I just open my door, entered and locked myself in. She came knocking my door and asking me what happened, i didn’t alter a single word as i was just lying down on my bed. “Indeed, life hasn’t be fair with me in any way” that was the only words i could altered at that moment. Immediately, i started feeling guilty, i know i have offended Ayomide. I know i needed her forgiveness before any other thing, i was just lost in another thought.
“what the f--k is wrong with me?”
“What has came over me?”
“What have i just done?”
“Have i been charmed”
“How could i have just left Ayomide like that?”
“After all the promised i made to her”
“I can’t believed i did not stay to fulfil any of those promises”
“I’m doomed”
I’ve to look for Ayomide and begged her, her forgiveness is what matter’s most to me now. Isn’t her non appreciative altitude manageable, maybe one day she would takes to correction. “If i could ever get another chance, i swear to cherish her for the rest of my life”. The ringing of my phone brought me back to life, i looked at the screen and to my surprised, it was Ayomide. I sat upright instantly, i couldn’t believed it
“How come this girl is calling at the particular time?”
“Has she found out what happened?”
“How will she even know?”
“Hope she’s not calling to make jest of me?”
“Hope is not what am thinking?”
The phone has rang two times, i was afraid to picked it. On the third call, summoned courage and picked the call.
Me: Hello ****Voice stammering****
Ayomide: Hi, Gabriel how you doing?
Me: Am fine and you
Ayomide: Am cool! And why is your voice like this. Anything wrong?
Me: Nothing! I just have cough, that why my voice sounds cracked
Ayomide: Ok! I just wanted to say hi to you
Me: Thanks a lot
Ayomide: You welcome
Me: I will call you later in the day or tomorrow
Ayomide: Alright
Me: Bye!
*****Hanged Up*****
After i finished receiving Ayomide’s call, i have the zeal that she will forgive me if i walk up to her. I just have that confidence because i know Ayomide loves me.
“Where should i start from?” I took a deep breath.
Through out that day, Lucy kept on calling me as if they gave me her destiny from heaven to delivered to her and i haven’t. I did not even bothered to pick her calls because nothing on earth can ever joined us together again. If i Soldier mistakenly marries someone like Lucy as a wife, then he’s totally finished. My job in the first place doesn’t allows me to stay at home throughout, operations and courses duration are at least three months. Then if lucy can be cheating on me when am around, how much more of when am off to obey my clarion’s call for a year or more than. I couldn’t just bear what i saw that very day, i caught then red handed. I have already make up my mind not to cheat on my lady, so i wouldn’t take it if my lady cheated on me. I just went to bed that day and i put my phone on silent in order for her calls not to disturbed me. When i woke up the next day, Lucy had call me through out the night, about 31 missed call from her.
“What the f--k did this b---h wants from me?” I scratched my head with my finger nails.
It was around 06:45am, i wanted to go and ease myself when her call came in again
“Enough of all this calls, i think I have to put a end at this” I sulked
I decided to pick her call this time around
Me: ****Picked but i wasn’t talking****
Lucy: Baby
Me: God will passionately punished that your mouth that use to call me “baby”.
Lucy: Baby please am sorry, it’s the devil’s work
Me: Oh! Devil’s work when you were asking him to give it to you badly and hardly
Lucy: Baby please forgive
Me: I did not blame you, i blamed myself for giving you this opportunity to be telling me this trash, if i had given you the beating of life that day you wouldn’t have have the gods to be calling me talk a less of calling me one useless baby. B-----d!
****I ended the call****
I did not wants to think about her again, i deleted her phone numbers instantly. After taken my breakfast, i decided to call Ayomide in other to apologized to her. I couldn’t wait till i set my eyes on her as i guess it might be too late for me. I dialed her number about four times before she finally picked.
Ayomide: Gabriel! Sorry for not picking your calls, i was in the bathroom
Me: I thought as much, good morning
Ayomide: Morning!
Me: How was your night?
Ayomide: It was fine and what about you
Me: “It was pretty bad” i managed to pour out
Ayomide: What’s wrong with you? She sounds serious
Me: Ayomide! ****Fear in me, afraid of what she might say****
Ayomide: Am listening now! She sounds more serious this time around
Me: Please we need to see and talk
Ayomide: “See and talk” she was surprised! So you mean what you wanted to tell me was so important that you can’t tell me on phone
Me: Please do it for me, I know i didn’t deserved it but please just do it for me. I beg of you
Ayomide: Gabriel it’s ok, i will find time and come and see you
Me: “I thought you will be chance today” i asked swooply
Ayomide: Really! Not so quick! You know I’ve got one or two things to do at school
Me: Please
Ayomide: Ok! i will make it up to you tomorrow
Me: Is that a promise? I asked passionately
Ayomide: Yeah
Me: Alright, thanks dear
Ayomide: Don’t mention!

I felt a bit relief at that moment, i was as if a bucket of cold water was poured on me. Indeed, i now know how much i loved and cherished Ayomide.
“If this girl can just give me a second chance” i will never try anything funny with her again” i pledged.
I can’t just wait to see her tomorrow, I’ve missed her a lot. I wished we could just unite and come back to the exert way we were before.
“I’m still nursing the pain Lucy caused in my heart, i hope Ayomide will just heal it by the times she comes tomorrow” i was cold!
Tears formed in my eyes!
